Hello, my sparkling friends!
As you know, I am very good at finding sparkles.
Some of my friends are celebrating their country's birthday this month. That means when the sun goes to bed, the sky will wake up with bright, colorful fireworks! I always wonder if the stars get excited to see them too.
And then there are the fireflies! Have you ever watched them dance across the grass on a warm summer evening? I like to think they're tiny stars that wandered down from the sky just to visit us for a little while.
If you stay outside long enough, you'll discover that summer nights are filled with real stars too. They twinkle overhead while everyone whispers, laughs, and makes wonderful memories together.
But here's a little secret... Not all sparkles live in the sky.
Some sparkles happen when you bite into a juicy slice of watermelon. Or when the first sweet taste of a peach hits your tongue.
Some sparkles are found in bubbles, sprinklers, and puddles after a summer rain.
And some sparkle in a smile.
If you're having a day when you can't find a star to pin on your shirt, don't worry. Just wear a smile instead. Smiles sparkle too.
They have a wonderful way of making other people smile back, and before you know it, everyone around you is shining just a little brighter.
People like seeing you sparkle.
Now... every once in a while, you might have a day that doesn't seem very sparkly at all. If that ever happens...
Don't settle. Do what I do.
Pin another star on something!
Pin one on your shirt. Pin one on your mom's shirt. Your dad's too! Or your sister’s.
Your brother probably needs one.
Pin one on your backpack. Pin one on the big cold box in the kitchen where you keep your food and drinks.
Pin one on your bicycle. Pin one on your favorite stuffed animal.
Before long, you'll discover something wonderful.
The world has been sparkling all along.
Sometimes... it just needs a little help remembering.
