Glemme
Glemme is not entirely certain where he came from.
He thinks it was somewhere north of somewhere else, though he admits that may have been years ago. Or yesterday. He cannot quite remember.
What Glemme does know is that he is supposed to be in Lofoten.
Every now and then he remembers that he is already there.
Glemme is a member of the Sapphire Council and the Keeper of Letting Go. He has a habit of misplacing conversations halfway through having them and occasionally forgets what he was carrying while still carrying it. Yet despite appearances, there is nothing wrong with his memory.
According to Glemme, he simply does not keep things that are no longer important.
The tide takes them.
The wind carries them away.
The sea has plenty of room for old worries.
Mistakes, embarrassments, wrong turns, and regrets rarely stay with him for long. Glemme believes that holding onto every unpleasant thing that happens only weighs a traveler down. Better to learn the lesson, thank it for its service, and let it drift beyond the horizon.
Curiously, there is one thing Glemme never forgets.
Rampen the puffin is a thief.
No one knows why this particular fact survives while countless others fade away. Glemme insists it is important information and repeats it whenever necessary. Sometimes even when it is not.
Among the Sapphire Council, Glemme becomes one of Finn's most important teachers. Finn collects his mistakes the way others collect treasures, carrying each one long after it should have been set down. Every wrong choice becomes proof that he is not ready. Every failure becomes another reason to doubt himself.
Glemme sees the burden immediately.
What Finn needs, he believes, is not to remember more. It is to carry less.
For what good is a compass if both hands are busy carrying the past?
When the Sapphire Light grows clouded by regret, Glemme is the one who reminds others that not everything deserves to be kept. Some things are meant to be learned from.
And then released.
If an old mistake finally loosens its grip...
If yesterday's embarrassment no longer feels so heavy...
If someone finds the courage to try again after failing...
That will be Glemme.
