Hav
Hav has always listened to things others overlook.
While most nisser hear the wind above the waves, Hav listens below them. He knows the songs of whales, the calls of seabirds, and the distant sounds carried through the deep water. Sometimes he becomes so focused on listening that others must repeat themselves twice before he remembers they are speaking to him.
Hav is a member of the Sapphire Council and the Keeper of the Deep.
He journeyed to Lofoten from his home in Vesterålen after being called by the Sapphire Light. There he watches the sea with patient eyes, always searching for what might be hidden beneath the surface.
The Deep, Hav believes, is not something to fear.
It is something to understand.
Many creatures live where the eye cannot see. Some are large. Some are strange. Some appear suddenly from the darkness below. Yet Hav knows that mystery and danger are not the same thing. The ocean holds risks, certainly—but it also holds wonder.
It is Hav who teaches Finn that fear often grows in places left unexplored. When people cannot see what lies ahead, they sometimes imagine the worst. But the unknown is not always something waiting to harm you. Sometimes it is something waiting to be discovered.
A whale rising beside a ship.
A seal watching from the rocks.
A beluga who simply wishes to be a friend.
Hav reminds Finn that courage is not pretending fear does not exist. It is being willing to look closer, listen carefully, and learn what is truly there.
Though quiet by nature, Hav possesses a deep curiosity about the world around him. He finds beauty in questions, patience in observation, and comfort in knowing that there is always more beneath the surface than first appears.
If something hidden turns out to be beautiful...
If understanding replaces fear...
If wonder is found where worry once lived...
That will be Hav.
