Lys
Lys is never far from where light is needed.
You may not notice when she arrives—but you will feel when she is there. A room that once seemed dim will soften. Shadows will loosen their hold. Warmth will gather quietly, as though it had been waiting all along to return.
Her presence is gentle, never overwhelming. It does not shine to be seen, but to reveal. Colors seem truer near her. Faces kinder. Even the smallest corner of a home can feel held in her quiet glow.
Lys is a member of the Amber Council and the Keeper of Light. She does not carry light as something separate from herself—she is the light she brings. During Jultid, when nights stretch long and darkness settles early, her presence is felt most deeply. It is said that a home with light in the window is never truly empty—that something within it is awake, warm, and ready to welcome.
She asks for nothing. She does not hurry or call attention to her work. Yet everything around her changes. Where she lingers, stillness becomes comfort. Where she passes, warmth remains.
To learn from Lys is to understand that light is not something we chase—it is something we allow. That warmth does not need to be loud to be felt. Pål and Tonje come to understand through Lys that when light is allowed to shine from within, it does more than brighten a room—it welcomes others in.
If a window glows softly against the dark…
If a room feels warmer without reason…
If something within you steadies, quiet and sure…
That will be Lys.
