Mette

Mette has spent her entire life in Alta, where the wide tundra stretches farther than the eye can see and the reindeer herds have always been part of the landscape. She has watched the herders from a distance, respecting their traditions without ever imagining she would one day become part of their world. Practical and thoughtful, Mette believes that every mystery has an explanation if only one looks hard enough. Legends, hidden lights, and stories of the nisser belong to the past—or so she believes.

Everything changes after an unexpected meeting with Niillas. Wanting to repay a kindness, Mette is invited to spend time at the reindeer camp instead. There she discovers that life on the tundra follows rhythms very different from her own. The reindeer cannot be rushed or commanded. Their trust must be earned through patience, gentleness, and quiet consistency.

Drawn to one shy reindeer in particular, Mette slowly realizes that trust is never something one person simply receives. It is a gift shared between two hearts, built one small moment at a time. As the endless days of the Midnight Sun begin to give way to the first hints of darker skies, she also discovers that some truths cannot be measured or explained. They can only be experienced.

Mette's journey reminds us that the greatest discoveries often begin when we set aside certainty and allow ourselves to believe in what cannot yet be seen. Through patience, trust, and one gentle reindeer, she discovers that the Amethyst Light was never something to be proven. It was something to be trusted. Her story teaches that trust is not only given—it is earned—and that the Light has been there all along, waiting patiently for those willing to see with more than their eyes.
