Niillas

Niillas walks the wide tundra beyond Alta, where the mountains meet the sky, the reindeer follow ancient paths, and the seasons are measured not by calendars, but by the returning light.

He travels with his herd, never rushing their journey, trusting the land to reveal when it is time to move. To Niillas, the Midnight Sun and the Polar Night are not opposites, but companions. Each has its purpose. Each has something to teach those willing to watch and wait.

Though he is known throughout the tundra as a gifted storyteller, Niillas has never believed that wisdom can simply be handed to another. It must be discovered. When chance brings Mette into his path, he offers no demands and no easy answers. Instead, he shares quiet moments, gentle guidance, and the freedom to find her own place in the world. Like the reindeer he follows, every soul must choose its own direction. Trust cannot be forced. Belonging cannot be hurried.

Those who gather around Niillas soon discover that stories are as nourishing as food and as warming as a fire against the Arctic wind. The children listen first, then the elders, and before long, even the quietest among them lean a little closer.

Niillas is one of the Story Tellers. Once a keeper of the Light in another form, he crossed the veil to carry its stories forward. The tundra still knows his footsteps. His heart still beats in time with the Amethyst Light—the quiet trust that guides without commanding—and through him, the Light continues to find those who are ready to believe that the surest path is often the one discovered for themselves.
