Venta
Venta is never in a hurry.
At least, not according to Venta. Others occasionally disagree.
More than once, someone has pointed out that she appears to be running late. Venta always listens politely before explaining that she is arriving exactly when she was meant to arrive.
Then she arrives.
Venta is a member of the Sapphire Council and the Keeper of Timing. She was called north to Lofoten from her home in Olden by the Sapphire Light, a journey that surprised no one who knew her.
Least of all Bestemor Runa. Runa understood the call immediately.
Some journeys begin long before the traveler takes the first step. Venta has always trusted that.
Though she keeps careful watch over clocks, tides, and seasons, Venta believes that time itself is often given far more importance than it deserves. A traveler who arrives safely, she argues, has succeeded whether the journey took an hour longer than expected or a day.
The sea does not hurry. The mountains do not rush. Neither should people.
Among the Sapphire Council, Venta teaches Finn to worry less about the clock and more about where he is trying to go. Finn often becomes anxious when things do not happen according to plan. Delays feel like failures. Detours feel like mistakes. Every unexpected obstacle convinces him he is falling behind.
Venta sees the worry immediately. A delayed voyage is still a voyage. A changed course is still a course. And a destination reached safely is no less meaningful because it took longer than expected.
When the Sapphire Light grows clouded by impatience, Venta is the one who reminds others that progress cannot always be measured by a clock. Sometimes the right moment arrives quietly. Sometimes it arrives later than hoped. Sometimes it arrives exactly when it should.
If someone finds peace in a delayed journey...
If frustration gives way to trust...
If a traveler finally stops staring at the clock long enough to see the horizon...
That will be Venta.
